What is the GV262?

The GV262 is the name for the document containing the government's definitive guidance on UK and EU working time / drivers' hours regulations, and tachograph laws.

Where to find the GV262?

The gov.uk website hosts a series of pages which collectively make up the GV262, and can be accessed here. We’ve also provided navigational links to the different sections below. Click the blue header to visit the relevant page!

5. Responsibilities of vehicle operators

6. Enforcement and penalties

Downloadable PDFs of the GV262

By researching online, we have managed to find two PDF copies of the GV262, which you'll be able to print out or read online if you're finding the government's website difficult to use. You can access them below:

  • Government 2017 GV262 - A scan of the government's guidance from just after Brexit, back when they still allowed you to print out the GV262 as one big document.
  • VOSA 2011 GV262 - This copy is more clean and professional-looking, but is over a decade old now so will likely contain outdated material.

That said, we'd highly recommend trying to get along with the government's website version of the GV262, as it is guaranteed to be up-to-date.
